There are words to a Christmas song that says: “Man will live for evermore because of Christmas Day…..Jesus Christ was born on Christmas Day”. No one really believes that Jesus was born on December 25 th, however, it is the accepted date for the celebration of Christ’s birth. Jesus is the only God-man to have ever been born. Jesus Christ is fully man and, more importantly, is Fully God: He is God the Son. Jesus came to earth as a baby, maintained a sinless life, was crucified for our sins and rose from the dead to secure our life for evermore with Him in Eternity. CREATION/EVOLUTION

Question: Does it matter what we believe?

Can the Bible “fit into” the theory of evolution? Let’s look at both the Creation model and the Evolution model. One model is right and the other wrong. There is so much difference between them, they can’t both be right.

Order of Events---The Bible and the theory of Evolution do not agree at all.

The Bible says: Evolution says

Earth created on day one. The stars were formed first before the earth.

Stars were created on day four (Gen 1:17-19) Millions of years later; the earth formed from what?

Birds were created on day five. Reptiles evolved before birds.

Reptiles were created on day six. After millions of years reptiles evolved into birds.

Earth began covered with water. Earth started as a fiery mass.

• Creation Model
• God created everything in 6-24 hour days. He spoke creation into existence. See Ps 33:6and Heb 11:3.
• Death came through sin Rom 5:12 & 1Cor 15:21.
• God destroyed the entire earth with “The Flood”.
• Man was created by God in the image of God.
• God created all things.
• Evolution Model
• 15 bil. yrs ago, some how, something came into existence.
• 4.5 bil. yrs ago the earth and our solar system came to be.
• 3.5 bil. yrs. ago, some how, the 1 st cell came to be and over the next millions of yrs, here we are.
• God had nothing to do with the formation of complex cells, animals, plants and humans.

Could God have used long time periods in His creation? Yes He could! Did God use long time periods in His creation? No! All the evidence tells us No! God created everything in six-24 hour days. Nowhere in the Bible is there any mention or inference to long periods of time. (Continued in the next “Information Letter”)

IS THE BIBLE RELIABLE?

Let’s look into Archeology while studying the reliability of the Bible. We are fortunate to live in a time of history that is so very rich in archeological discoveries. Since the middle of the 19th century, the number of “digs” have increased dramatically. Much of the work, or digs, have been in the area mentioned in the Bible. There have been uncountable locations, names and treasures that are indicated in the Bible that have been verified with these archeological digs. . More than 25,000 sites showing some connection with the Old Testament period have been located. Not one of the archeological findings have shown the Bible to be wrong. On the contrary, when a dig involved an area of the Bible, it verified in detail, the description in the Bible. One of the most important archeological finds is the Dead Sea Scrolls. THE LIFE OF CHRIST

A historical, flesh and blood Jesus who lived and died and rose from the dead is the necessary foundation of Christianity. There are two categories of information from history that we have about Jesus: non-biblical sources and the four Biblical Gospels. One non-biblical writer is Tacitus - 110 A.D. This Roman historian writes of Jesus being, “the author of this name [Christians] was Christ, who, in the reign of Tiberius, was brought to punishment by Pontius Pilate the procurator”. Another writer is Pliny the Younger - 62-113 A.D. In a correspondence with the emperor Trajan, Pliny noted that Christians met regularly and sang hymns “to Christ as if to a god”. An author of more notoriety is Josephus - 37-95 A.D. A Jewish historian of the late 1st century, who wrote extensively about Christ and the first century Christians.
