Dear Friends: This is the 18 th edition of the ProJesus Letter.

True peace is not the absence of war: it is the presence of God in Jesus the Christ!

PHYSICAL! EMOTIONAL! Spiritual! At this time of year or any time, how much should we be concerned about each? Physical: Do we eat well and exercise regularly all year as we know we should. Emotional: Are our moods high, low or are we in control of our feelings such as anger, sadness, anxiety or fear? But what about Spiritual: Do we first of all obey all the teachings of Jesus as we must? And just as important is to fight so that our children and grandchildren will not be denied their spiritual birthright. Our children are the heirs of a long line of God-fearing men and women who fought and died so that we could worship God as we see fit. They even enshrined religious freedom in the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.

There can be no denying that this nation was founded by True Bible-believing Christians who came to America in search of religious freedom and were willing to die for their Christ-given rights. These men and women proclaimed their faith in God in every possible way. They engraved it on our monuments, our public buildings and even our money with the Name of GOD.

That belief in God was passed down from generation to generation. It undergirded all that we did. It shaped our culture and our communities and reminded us that we were called to obey a higher law, which throughout our history meant the Bible.

In the past it was obvious that we lived in a nation built on Christian ideals. We said the Pledge of Allegiance in school, and we never doubted that this was "one nation under God." Now, you can't acknowledge God in the public schools for fear of being sued by groups and individuals bent on driving God out of our society. The Christian beliefs on which this nation was established are being eliminated, and our materialistic and secularist society is systematically removing any vestiges of Christianity from public view.

While much of the blame for this has to be laid at the feet of those who are hostile to Christianity, Bible-believing Christians are not entirely blameless for this attack on our Christian roots. All too often, Christians have been silent and uninvolved in our society. Francis Schaeffer wrote in his 1981 book, A Christian Manifesto:

The basic problem of the True Christians in this country in the last eighty years or so, in regard to society and in regard to government, is that they have seen things in bits and pieces instead of totals. They have very gradually become disturbed over permissiveness, pornography, the public schools, the breakdown of the family, and finally abortion. But they have not seen this as a totality-each thing being a part, a symptom, of a much larger problem. They have failed to see that all of this has come about due to a shift in world view-that is, through a fundamental change in the overall way people think and view the world and life as a whole. This shift has been away from a world view that was at least vaguely Christian in people's memory (even if they were not individually Christian) toward something completely different.

Dr. Schaeffer recognized that we now live in a Post-Christian society, one that will destroy Christianity as we know it unless True Bible-believing Christians themselves decide to stand and fight for what they believe.

THE MANHATTAN DECLARATION

In late November 2009, a group of evangelical leaders including Jim Daly of Focus on the

Family, Chuck Colson of Prison Fellowship, Dr. Robbie George from Princeton, as well as Dr.

Timothy George from Beeson Divinity School signed a document, titled the “Manhattan Declaration”. Go to web site to read and sign the document: (http://www.manhattandeclaration.org/ ). The Declaration highlights three threshold issues for the Christian and non-Christian communities. 1. The sanctity of human life, 2. the importance of marriage defined as one-man, one-woman, and 3. religious freedom. These are three threshold issues that the framers and the signers agree to. Not just Christians benefit from the sanctity of human life, but all of humanity benefits when we are defending innocent life. This document has now been signed by over 250,000 people.

It is important for us to sign the document, fundamentally because we believe in the tenets of the document: the idea that marriage is important as defined as one man and one woman and the importance of marriage in raising the next generation of children and teaching our faith to those kids, along with the idea of religious freedom. These are fundamental sacred issues that Jesus and the Church always taught and these very basic Christian principles unite the Christian community and provide a proposal to the Christian culture to say these core things are important to the culture.

We are fighting for nothing less than the soul of our nation.

Clearly, America has lost it’s way. Just look around and

listen to Fox news once in awhile.
